NO ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL APPROACH TO TRAINING
Frequently, we encounter recommendations about exercises or training variables deemed “suitable for older clients” and those with “special health conditions.” Unfortunately, these suggestions often carry unintended consequences. Firstly, they may suggest that some of the familiar and effective exercises are unsuitable for these individuals. Secondly, it implies inherent limitations for these clients, which is far from accurate. At Recover Code, we challenge these assumptions, recognizing the diverse capabilities of every individual, regardless of age or health conditions.
Description
How should programming for older adults and those with special conditions differ from our standard approach? The concise response: fundamentally, it shouldn’t. At Recover Code, our strength lies in meeting clients exactly where they are—regardless of age or condition—and collaborating to enhance lifestyle and functional capacity aligned with their health and fitness objectives. This necessitates a shift in our approach, moving away from “age-based” program design to embracing “capacity-based” programming.

Incorporating often overlooked integrated training components for these adults involves unlocking the potential of;
- SAQ (Speed, Agility, and Quickness) and
- Plyometric training.
Surprisingly underutilized, these techniques can significantly enhance the ability to move with explosiveness, quickness, and efficiency. This is particularly beneficial for clients grappling with mobility issues, emphasizing the inclusive and transformative nature of such training practices.
